JUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Authorities say two students have been transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries after a car rear-ended a school bus near Fort Worth.
Officials with the Northwest Independent School District say the wreck happened Thursday morning as the bus, hauling 45 students, was bound for Gene Pike Middle School in Justin.
Police say part of the car caught fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze.
MedStar EMS spokesman Matt Zavadsky (zuh-VAD'-skee) says both drivers and six students suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Two of those children — a boy and a girl — were taken to a hospital, as a precaution.
Zavadsky says emergency personnel examined all 45 children and about two-thirds had minor complaints not requiring additional medical attention.
Another bus hauled the students to school.
