TORONTO (AP) — Albert Pujols (POO'-hohlz) moved into sole possession of 10th place on baseball's all-time list by hitting his 584th home run as the Los Angeles Angels snapped an 11-game road losing streak by beating Toronto 8-2. The Blue Jays remained tied for the AL East lead with Boston, which lost 4-3 in 11 innings to Tampa Bay.

MIAMI (AP)— The Miami Marlins stayed in the wild card hunt by blanking Kansas City 3-0 as Jose Fernandez won his 13th game. That ends the nine-game winning streak for the defending World Series champion Royals.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Yu Darvish hit only the second homer by a Rangers pitcher and Adrian Beltre (BEHL'-tray) hit a tiebreaking double in the eighth inning in the Texas Rangers' 6-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. That gives the Rangers a split of their two-game interleague series.

MIAMI (AP) — The Marlins acquired Jeff Francoeur (fran-KOOR') from the Atlanta Braves in a three-team trade last night, hoping the well-traveled outfielder can provide a boost toward a playoff spot. Francoeur hit .249 with seven home runs and 33 RBIs in 99 games for the Braves.

CHICAGO (AP) — U.S. women's goalkeeper Hope Solo is suspended for six months by U.S. Soccer for disparaging comments about Sweden following the Americans' early departure from the Rio Olympics. Solo called the Swedes "a bunch of cowards" for focusing on defense rather than attacking the three-time defending champion U.S. team.
