MIAMI (AP) — The Kansas City Royals' nine-game winning streak is over. Jose Fernandez struck out nine Royals in six innings and won his 13th game as the Miami Marlins blanked the Royals 3-0.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs' playoff express barrels on as the Cubs finished off a three-game road sweep by beating the San Diego Padres 6-3. Major league ERA leader Kyle Hendricks pitched six effective innings, improving to 12-7 and lowering his ERA to 2.19.

SEATTLE (AP) — Rookie Gary Sanchez's torrid start to his major league career continues. The Yankees catch hit his seventh home run in the past nine games and, leading the New York Yankees posted a 5-0 win over Seattle. Masahiro Tanaka won his fourth straight start to improve to 11-4.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Evan Gattis hit his 20th home run and Carlos Correa got two hits and scored twice in Houston's 5-4 win over Pittsburgh. The Astros have won five of six as they keep their AL wild card hopes alive.

CHICAGO (AP) — Apparently the Chicago White Sox think they will change their luck by changing the name of their stadium. The ballpark currently called U.S. Cellular Field will become known as Guaranteed Rate Field starting in November under a 13-year naming rights deal. Terms were not disclosed.
