MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Sick kids at a western Montana school may have to go see the school secretary as the Lolo School District has had to cut back their nurse's hours due to a lost grant.
The Missoulian reports (http://bit.ly/2bgLcXF ) that Lolo's school nurse was funded by a four-year $120,000 anonymous grant for the past four years, but that money has run out. Before the donation, Lolo did not have a school nurse.
The district knew the grant was running out — it had been intended for three years but the district stretched it out to four — and put a $110,000 levy request on the May 3 ballot to fund a full-time nurse. The levy request failed.
Now the school will have a nurse for four hours a day instead of a full schoolday.
