PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A political consultant has been sentenced to probation for his role in the corruption case involving a convicted former Pennsylvania congressman.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports (http://bit.ly/2blyBnQ ) 68-year-old Gregory Naylor was sentenced to four years of probation Tuesday by a federal judge who told Naylor that he believed the man acted out of a misguided loyalty to former U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah.
Naylor admitted in 2014 to concealing the misuse of $622,000 in campaign contributions and federal grant funds, and lying about it to the FBI.
Fattah was convicted in June on racketeering and bribery charges, and resigned from Congress.
Prosecutors say Naylor's cooperation and testimony against Fattah was pivotal in the case against the Democrat. Fattah's former chief of staff testified as part of a plea agreement.
