DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — When it comes to Donald Trump, Cher is not afraid to go there. The singer and actress unloaded on the Republican presidential nominee at a private fundraiser for Hillary Clinton, comparing him to Stalin and Hitler. She told reporters afterward that Trump is "a racist, he's misogynist, he's a horrible person."
WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump's campaign says the Clinton Foundation's plans to address conflicts of interest should Hillary Clinton be elected don't go far enough. Clinton's family charity has said it will stop accepting foreign and corporate donations if Clinton makes it to the White House. A Trump spokesman calls the pledge "laughable" because it fails to include umbrella organizations like the Clinton Health Access Initiative. Former President Clinton says the foundation does work like providing HIV/AIDs medications and food.
SAN DIEGO (AP) — A California man who lost his ability to walk and speak is asking a judge to allow him to vote under a new state law that makes it easier for disabled people to keep or regain that right. California judges had for years stripped away the voting rights of people with disabilities including autism, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy -- a common practice in many states. An advocacy group has also filed a complaint asking that California be required to notify people about the new law in time for the November election.
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — North Korea is asking the U.N. Security Council for an urgent meeting as the U.S. and South Korea open their annual joint military exercises. The North's U.N. Ambassador has sent a letter to the council president accusing the U.S. of "creating the danger of war." North Korea has threatened nuclear strikes in response to the exercises it says are an invasion rehearsal. South Korea tonight said the North had fired a ballistic missile into the sea.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Large, growing wildfires burning in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks have forced the closure of key roads. The fires come at one of the busiest times of year for the park. A fire in Grand Teton park made a 5-mile run on Monday, forcing the closure of a 10-mile stretch of road leading into Yellowstone's South Entrance. Thousands of vehicles pass through the entrance at this time of year.
