SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) — The president of a Jesuit university in northeastern Pennsylvania is stepping down.
The University of Scranton says the Rev. Kevin Quinn will resign in June 2017 after taking over the position in 2011. The board of trustees formally accepted his resignation on Wednesday.
Fr. Quinn is the school's 25th president. He'll leave as the fifth longest-serving Jesuit president in the university's history.
Quinn says he decided it was the right time to make a change.
Board chairman Lawrence Lynch tells the Times-Tribune in Scranton (http://bit.ly/2bBdD5z ) the university has gained recognition nationally and enrolled some of its largest classes ever during Quinn's tenure.
The university says a committee will be established in the coming weeks to search for a successor.
