Delegates completed an important piece of convention business this afternoon: They nominated their presidential ticket. And, as promised, a Utah delegate took a public stand for Hillary Clinton.

The Obama campaign had been working aggressively to make the roll-call vote unanimous for Barack Obama, but it didn't work, and one of the three die-hard holdouts for Hillary Clinton was a delegate from Utah.

Eighteen-year-old Jordan Apollo, a Utah Democratic delegate, said, "Today I proudly second the nomination for Hillary Clinton in honor of my two great-grandmothers, Teresa and Catherina, both Utah residents and both born before women had a right to vote."

Apollo, from Copperton, is one of the youngest delegates there. He stood on the platform where his candidate, Hillary Clinton, did last night and declared his support. He told us earlier that he would, in fact, vote for Obama in the end, but that he felt he had to make good on his original commitment as a delegate.

"We are a unified party, but we have different ideas. And Sen. Obama knows how to bring those ideas together. I am casting my initial ballot for Hillary Clinton in honor of the delegates who elected me to do that."

Apollo's grandmothers have both faced health care issues. Health care was one of the things that originally won him over as a Clinton supporter.

In the final vote at the convention, and in November, Apollo said he will be an Obama supporter to the end. Other delegates we spoke to in the Democratic National Convention arena say they will be, too.
