MILLCREEK — Unified police looking for a stabbing suspect ended up getting into a chase with a woman in a stolen vehicle who was arrested for unrelated warrants.

About 4:20 a.m. Monday, a man was walking near 1620 E. Siggard Drive with a woman when a vehicle pulled up next to them. Someone got out of the car and stabbed the man in the arm, said Unified Police Sgt. Jared Richardson.

The man was taken to a local hospital. The injuries were not life-threatening. He told investigators that the alleged attacker was in a dark-colored Nissan Altima.

About 20 to 30 minutes later, police spotted a car matching that description near 3900 South and 500 West, Richardson said. The driver refused to pull over and a chase ensued, he said.

The chase ended near 4040 S. 1535 West. The driver and three occupants were questioned. Richardson said detectives determined the group had nothing to do with the stabbing, but the driver had warrants out for her arrest.

Amber Evans, 34, was arrested for investigation of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, and fleeing in addition to her warrants. She has a lengthy criminal history that includes retail theft, forgery and drug-related charges. Evans had an outstanding warrant for felony shoplifting when she was arrested, according to court records.
