LAS VEGAS (AP) — A man has died after his ATV crashed in the Las Vegas desert, making it the second such death in a month.
Las Vegas police say the accident happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday in a dry lake bed near the town of Jean.
According to evidence and witness statements, the 39-year-old man was traveling on a Yamaha Banshee ATV by himself when his vehicle became airborne.
Upon landing, the rider was thrown.
Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
The man's identity was not released.
A 30-year-old man was killed July 22 while riding a four-wheeler ATV across the lake bed.
His vehicle hit dirt mounds, causing him to be ejected.
