ISTANBUL (AP) — Turkey reeling from violence once again, this time an apparent suicide attack in the south that killed at least 50 people at an outdoor wedding party. Dozens of -people were injured in the blast which Turkey's president blamed on the Islamic State group. The blast comes on the heels of last month's failed coup and a wave of attacks over the past year.

UNDATED (AP) — Suicide bombings on opposite coasts in Africa have left at least 12 people dead, three in Cameroon on the west coast and nine in Somalia, to the east. A pair of bombings in Somalia hit a local government headquarters and a market. The Cameroon blast happened at a market near the border with Nigeria. The extremist al-Shabab operates in Somalia while Boko Haram is active in the Cameroon region.

DAVAO, Philippines (AP) — The Philippines outspoken president is bashing the U.S. and the U.N. today over criticism of his anti-drug campaign, which has left hundreds of suspects dead without trials. President Rodrigo Duterte lashed out at U.S. police killings of black men and threatened to withdraw from the United Nations.

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Brazil has one thing it really wanted out of the Rio Olympics -- the soccer gold medal. Neymar scored the clinching goal for Brazil with a nifty penalty kick in a victory that touched off celebrations all across the soccer-obsessed nation. The U.S. women's basketball team breezed to the gold medal, beating Spain. Gwen Jorgensen took the women's decathlon gold for the U.S. Today is the final day of the games.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — California still has seven wildfires burning, including the one east of Los Angeles that is now 73 percent contained. A blaze in San Luis Obispo County forced the closure of the historic Hearst Castle yesterday. In mountains north of San Francisco, a 6-square-mile blaze is 80 percent contained after destroying 300 structures, including 189 homes in the working-class community of Lower Lake.
