FREDERICKSBURGH, Va. (AP) — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump says his party must do a better job appealing to African-American voters and that he wants the GOP to become their political home as it was in the era of Abraham Lincoln. Trump spoke today during a rally in Fredericksburg, Virginia, a critical battleground state. In spite of past fiery rhetoric that alienated many minority voters, Trump said that he wants "an inclusive party."

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — More residents in mountain areas east of Los Angeles are returning home after fire crews made significant gains today against a wildfire that officials say has destroyed more than 100 homes. The blaze, which has burned 58 square miles, is 68 percent contained. Meanwhile, a growing wildfire in central California has forced the closure of the historic Hearst Castle. It's now about 3 ½ miles from the hilltop estate.

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — A bomb went off Saturday at an outdoor wedding party in southeastern Turkey and officials say at least 30 people were killed and 94 others were wounded. Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek says the "barbaric" attack in the city of Gaziantep, near the border with Syria, appears to be a suicide bombing. Other officials say it could have been the carried out by either Kurdish militants or Islamic State group extremists.

HARLAN, Ky. (AP) — Police say they found two more improvised explosive devices in the woods of Harlan County, Kentucky. The discovery comes a week after the man accused of placing the explosives was killed in an altercation with police during a search for the IEDs. Mark Sawaf was charged in June following a federal investigation into the explosion of a trail camera the month before. It caused a man to lose multiple fingers and suffer wounds to his torso.

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a suspect by a police officer in south Tennessee. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports it happened Friday in East Ridge. A Hamilton County Sheriff's spokesman says officers responding to a report of a man wielding a knife found him outside a home. The spokesman says the man refused commands and approached the officer with a weapon, prompting the officer to fire.
