JACKSON HOLE, Wyoming — A West Jordan woman died in a river rafting accident during a youth conference, the LDS Church confirmed on Saturday.
LDS Church spokesman Eric Hawkins confirmed that 54-year-old Pamela Solomon, a youth leader from a congregation in West Jordan, was participating in a rafting trip on the Snake River in Idaho on Thursday when she fell from the raft and into the water.
Solomon was wearing a life jacket and was quickly pulled from the river, but had swallowed significant water and required emergency resuscitation, according to the statement from the LDS Church.
Solomon died shortly after arriving at a hospital in Jackson, Wyoming.
“Sister Solomon was a beloved Young Women’s president and we mourn with her family and the members of her congregation as they face this tragic loss,” Hawkins said in the statement.
A GoFundMe page* to help the family with funeral expenses has been set up.
