SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Diego Padres recalled left-hander Keith Hessler and utility player Patrick Kivlehan from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.
Kessler, who went 1-1 with a 2.95 ERA in 28 outings at El Paso, is making his fifth appearance with the Padres.
Kivlehan was acquired off waivers on Aug. 4 from the Mariners and hit .341 in 12 games at El Paso.
The Padres optioned lefty Ryan Buchter, who was 3-0 in 54 innings, and infielder Nick Noonan to El Paso.
