CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — Caldwell police say an officer shot and killed a dog after it acted aggressively toward him.
Officials say police on Wednesday were called to a residence where two wanted people were and were accosted by a large, barking dog. As one of the home's residents went to find the wanted suspects the dog approached officers in an aggressive manner.
Police say officers used a wooden baton to try to keep the dog away but the dog continued to show aggression and lunged toward an officer. The officer fired his weapon, killing the dog at the scene.
The wanted suspects were taken into custody without further incident.
