SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A new report shows the rate of unemployed Utah residents dropped slightly last month to 3.9 percent.
Utah's Department of Workforce Services, which tracks state unemployment rates, says there were about 58,600 people out of work but seeking jobs in July.
The state reported about 44,000 new jobs in July from the same month in 2015. Most of those increases were in education and health care.
Utah also had 1,000 fewer jobs in the natural resources and mining industry last month than it did in July 2015.
Across the U.S., the unemployment rate in July was 4.9 percent.
