MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont's 11 community health centers are being funded with help from almost $841,000 in federal grants.
The awards announced Thursday are Vermont's share of $100 million in nationwide grants for 1,304 health centers.
The funding announced Thursday includes awards for health centers with the highest clinical outcomes and clinical improvement.
Independent U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders says the Health Centers now serve one in four Vermonters. The centers provide services regardless of a person's ability to pay as well as people covered by Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance, as well as those without insurance.
The Vermont grants range from just over $20,000 for the Battenkill Valley Health Center in Arlington to almost $140,000 for the Springfield Medical Care Systems.
