CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Indians activated Danny Salazar from the 15-day disabled list to start Thursday night against the Chicago White Sox.

The right-hander had been on the DL with right elbow inflammation since Aug. 2. He last pitched on Aug. 1, allowing six runs in two innings during a 12-5 loss to Minnesota.

Salazar is 11-4 with a 3.38 ERA in 20 starts this season, striking out 133 in 117 1/3 innings for the AL Central leaders.

The Indians had an open spot on their 25-man roster after placing right-hander Josh Tomlin on the family medical emergency list Wednesday.
