WEST JORDAN — A man was critically injured when he caught on fire while burning weeds, officials said.
The 67-year-old man was burning weeds in his backyard near 8000 South and 2700 West around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, fire officials said. When he added more gasoline to the fire, the flames caused the gas can to rupture. The gasoline spilled onto the man, igniting his clothing.
The man took the time to stop, drop and roll, but still suffered second-degree burns on his torso and face, authorities said.
The man was transported to an area hospital and is in critical condition.
