DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (AP) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it will look into lining up rental properties and also consider temporary housing units for those left homeless by flooding in Louisiana's Baton Rouge and Lafayette areas. An estimated 40,000 homes have been damaged by flooding. And now authorities in the community of Gueydan (GAY'-dawh) are telling their residents to evacuate because the area is outside the levee system.

BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — The fire chief in San Bernardino County warns, "There will be a lot of families that come home to nothing" when they're allowed to return to their fire-ravaged homes. The blaze has raged across 40 square miles, and authorities say they're not sure home many homes have been destroyed.

UPPER MALBORO, Md. (AP) — Officials say they've found another instance of a potentially deadly bacterium inside a Maryland hospital that was shut down earlier this month. Prince George's Hospital Center officials say the presence of Pseudomonas was discovered in at least one patient care area outside of the neonatal intensive care unit. The bacterium was first found Aug. 9 in the water pipes after two newborns died. An infectious disease expert is investigating whether the deaths are linked to Pseudomonas.

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Three American swimmers are expected to give statements to Brazilian police today about how they were reportedly robbed early Sunday morning in Rio de Janeiro. A Brazilian official says the questioning will take place in Leblon, south of Rio, which is investigating the alleged robbery that targeted 12-time medalist Ryan Lochte and three teammates. Lochte is already back in the U.S.

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Jamaican Usain Bolt is going for what he hopes is his 8th gold metal. Today is the 200 meter sprint, and the biggest drama may not be whether he wins, but whether he cracks the once-thought-untouchable 19-second barrier. Bolt already owns both the world record at 19.19 seconds, and Olympic record at 19.30.
