MIAMI (AP) — The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Fiona is maintaining its intensity as it moves across the Atlantic.
The storm's maximum sustained winds early Thursday have increased to near 45 mph (75 kph). Additional strengthening is possible Thursday followed by gradual weakening over the weekend.
Fiona is centered about 1,095 miles (1,760 kilometers) west of the Cape Verde Islands and is moving west-northwest near 8 mph (13 kph).
