SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Gov. Gary Herbert is honoring Utah's oldest residents on Friday. Herbert is holding an annual luncheon for the state's residents who are 100 years and older.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Donald Trump's running mate Mike Pence will speak at an event next month hosted by Sen. Mike Lee, but the visit doesn't mean the Utah Republican is ready to endorse the billionaire presidential candidate. Lee has so far refused to support Trump, who battered Lee's close friend, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, with insults during the primary election and even floated a conspiracy theory linking Cruz's father to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Republicans outnumber Democrats nearly five-to-one among the state's 1.3 million active voters, yet they are grappling with whether they distrust Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton more. Trump has shattered the Republican consensus here, activating fault lines under even the most stable-looking electorate. The billionaire businessman is still expected to win the state's six electoral votes, but even Trump has acknowledged he's "having a tremendous problem" in Utah.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A young Utah man accused of drugging a police officer's drink at a drive-thru sandwich shop hasn't been charged more than a week after his arrest, leading the man's attorney to question why police investigators are dragging their feet. Layton Police Lt. Travis Lyman said Thursday investigators don't feel comfortable submitting the case to prosecutors until state crime lab results come back in the coming weeks to show what was in the drink.
