DETROIT (AP) — Tigers right-hander Anibal Sanchez lost his no-hit bid against the Kansas City Royals with two outs in the seventh inning Wednesday night.
Eric Hosmer ended it when he drove a curveball off the wall in left-center for a double.
Sanchez retired the first 12 batters Wednesday night, then walked Hosmer and Alex Gordon in the fifth inning. Hosmer's hit was the first real threat by the Royals.
Sanchez threw a no-hitter for the Marlins against Arizona on Sept. 6, 2006.
