ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Catcher Geovany Soto was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Los Angeles Angels for the third time this season.

Soto was a late scratch from the lineup on Tuesday when his knee swelled. He had fluid drained and the medical staff determined he would be unable to play.

On Wednesday, he was placed on the disabled list.

Catcher Carlos Perez was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Soto had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in May. It was his second meniscus repair surgery, as he underwent the same procedure with the Texas Rangers during spring training in 2014.
