NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Tulane University has filled a vacancy in its leadership staff.
The university says Robin Forman, a Harvard-trained mathematician who currently serves as the dean of Emory College of Arts and Sciences, has been named senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.
Forman's position is effective Sept. 1. He replaces Michael Bernstein, who resigned June 30 after nearly nine years of service.
Before joining Emory in 2010, Forman spent much of his academic career at Rice University, where he started in 1986, rising to full professor in 1999 and chair of the mathematics department in 2002. In 2005 he became Rice's first dean of undergraduates.
Tulane President Michael Fitts says Forman's decades-long experience gives him "the knowledge, vision and empathy" to take Tulane's academic mission to even greater heights.
