WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump has made a pitch to African-American voters, despite opinion surveys which suggest his support is nearly non-existent with the group. Speaking from a prepared speech in West Bend, Wisconsin, Trump said Democratic policies have "betrayed" black voters. He also said rival Hillary Clinton is "against the police." The speech was given in a suburb about 40 miles north of Milwaukee, which has seen racial unrest and violence since a fatal weekend police shooting.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Liz Cheney has won Wyoming's Republican primary for U.S. House. Cheney beat seven challengers for a chance at the job her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, first won 40 years ago. Her campaign focused on national security and rolling back federal regulations affecting Wyoming's coal industry.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A wildfire that broke out Tuesday has scorched a 14-square-mile area near Southern California's Cajon (kuh-HOHN') Pass and has forced the evacuation of more than 34,000 homes. A fire official in San Bernardino County says some homes have already burned.
NEW YORK (AP) — The man accused of fatally shooting an imam and his friend as they left a New York City mosque is being held without bail. Oscar Morel appeared in court at his arraignment Tuesday in Queens. His attorney says Morel denies the allegations. Prosecutors called the daytime shooting an "assassination." Investigators are still trying to determine a motive. They have not ruled out that it could have been a hate crime.
