BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Although some parts of Louisiana are starting to recover from devastating flooding, other areas downstream are still preparing for high water. Authorities in St. James parish are asking for volunteers to fill sandbags at seven locations. Louisiana's governor says at least 40,000 homes were damaged by the flooding, which left at least eight people dead.

NEW YORK (AP) — A prosecutor says the motive for a shooting that claimed the lives of a New York City imam and his friend is still being investigated. The Queens County D-A says it's possible investigators will conclude that the weekend shooting was a hate crime. But he says regardless of whether that's the case, the killings will be "vigorously prosecuted." A suspect is in custody, facing first-and-second-degree murder charges.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania's attorney general is resigning amid pressure from the governor and lawmakers a day after jurors found her guilty of abusing her power and lying to cover it up. Her office announced that Kathleen Kane will resign at the end of the day tomorrow. Kane's exit completes a spectacular fall for the state's highest-ranking female politician. She's a former county prosecutor who soared to victory three years ago as an outsider. Ultimately, she was undone by what prosecutors portrayed as a personal vendetta for her critics. Now, she's facing jail time and has had her law license suspended.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — A crew of 15 sailors should be heading home soon after being stuck for nearly four months aboard a cargo ship off the Georgia coast. Federal marshals seized the Newlead Castellano while it was docked in Savannah in April after creditors sued the ship's owner, saying they were owed $7.1 million. The ship and crew remained anchored off Tybee Island during the legal battle, which ended with the ship being sold at auction for $7.4 million last week. A federal judge approved the sale in court yesterday.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The deal is done, and the Playboy Mansion has a new owner. Daren Metropoulos, who lives next door, has completed the purchase of the Los Angeles landmark for $100 million - but he won't necessarily be moving in any time soon. Under terms of the deal, Hugh Hefner -- Playboy's 90-year-old founder -- may stay there for the rest of his life. After Hefner leaves, Metropoulos plans to connect the 5-acre Playboy estate to his 2-acre digs next door.
