BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The two deputies involved in a fatal shooting of a rancher say they are weighing their options on moving forward after prosecutors concluded the two men would not face criminal charges.
Adams County sheriff's Deputies Cody Roland and Brian Wood defended their actions in shooting 62-year-old Jack Yantis in an interview with KIVI-TV (http://bit.ly/2aVNH1w ) on Monday. The two are currently on administrative leave, and they have been named in a wrongful death tort claim filed by Yantis' family.
Yantis was killed after one of his bulls was hit by a car and deputies shot the animal. The bull was still alive when Yantis arrived with a rifle to put the animal down.
In the interview, the deputies said they felt Yantis was making threatening movements with his gun. The family disputes that claim.
