RIO DE JENEIRO (AP) — Gymnast Simone Biles is seeking a fourth Olympic gold medal today. The event is the floor exercise and it is her last competition at the Olympics. Biles, who has three gold already, scored a bronze yesterday on the balance beam.

RIO DE JENEIRO (AP) — The U.S. women's basketball team has a quarterfinal game today with Japan. The Americans, who have won five games by an average of 40.8 points, have won 46 consecutive games in the Olympics.

NEW YORK (AP) — Alex Rodriguez has stifled any talk of his playing with another team this season. Through a spokesman yesterday, the 41-year old said it is not true he might join the Miami Marlins. Rodriguez was released by the Yankees on Saturday after hitting just .200 with nine home runs and 31 RBIs this season.

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio (AP) — Gene Sauers withstood the competition and the bad weather to win the rain-delayed U.S. Senior Open. The fourth round was played yesterday because of bad weather Sunday. It was bad again on Monday but they got the round in and Sauers finished a shot in front of Miguel Angel Jimenez and Billy Mayfair.

UNDATED (AP) — Four linebackers will be suspended by the NFL if they don't agree to be interviewed by the league about allegations of doping. The foursome consists of James Harrison of the Steelers, Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers of the Packers and free agent Mike Neal. A league vice president sent a letter to the NFL Players Association detailing the plan to suspend the four if they don't speak with the league by Aug. 25.
