LOWMAN, Idaho (AP) — Fire officials say work to shore up fire lines and complete burnout operations continued Tuesday on a 120-square-mile wildfire burning in central Idaho. However, some residents on Tuesday were told to leave at a moment's notice near Lowman, an area with about 125 residents, due to the heavy smoke and erratic wildfire behavior caused by suppression efforts.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Authorities are investigating after 16 firearms were stolen from an Idaho Falls gun shop and firing range. Idaho Falls police spokesman Joelyn Hansen tells The Post Register officers had responded to the store early Tuesday to an active alarm.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The two deputies involved in a fatal shooting of a rancher say they are weighing their options on moving forward after prosecutors concluded the two men would not face criminal charges. Adams County sheriff's Deputies Cody Roland and Brian Wood defended their actions in shooting 62-year-old Jack Yantis in an interview with KIVI-TV on Monday.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Three weeks after proposing an ordinance to fine railroad companies up to $261 per car carrying crude oil or coal through downtown Spokane, the City Council has voted to withdraw the measure. Supporters cited the certainty of a successful legal challenge to the proposal.
