BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Severe flooding across south Louisiana has now taken seven lives. Authorities have confirmed that a man whose body was found in front of a library in Baton Rouge, accidentally drowned. A volunteer patrolling his boat found the body on Monday. Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards says widespread flooding has "presented tremendous challenges," but he's proud of the state's response. More than 20,000 people have been rescued from their homes in Baton Rouge and 11,000 are staying in shelters.

LOWER LAKE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities are accusing a California man of starting a wildfire in Lake County that's caused more than $10 million damage and destroyed more than 175 homes. Forty-year-old Damin Anthony Pashilk has been arrested on 17 counts of arson. Authorities suspect he's started numerous fires in Lake County over the past year.

UNDATED (AP) — The Pentagon says the number of detainees at Guantanamo Bay detention center is down to 61. On Monday, the Pentagon said 15 prisoners were sent from Guantanamo to the United Arab Emirates in the single largest release of detainees during the Obama administration. There's been a renewed push to whittle down the number of detainees at the U.S. prison in Cuba.

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesia's airline has been given the OK to fly to North America, nearly a decade after it was barred. The Federal Aviation Administration has upgraded Indonesia's safety rating, saying an assessment has found the country's civil aviation authority has complied with international standards. Indonesia is one of the world's fastest growing air travel markets, but has had a bumpy safety record with numerous crashes of civilian and military aircraft and many near misses.

BERLIN (AP) — Rescuers in Germany say they'll have to wait until morning to rescue a pilot whose ultralight aircraft crashed-landed in a tree. The man has been stuck in the tree since Monday night and has been waiting for someone to get him down. Rescuers were unable to reach him during the night.
