MIDDLETOWN, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of starting the blaze that destroyed more than 175 homes, business and other structures in a Northern California community. Lake County Sheriff Brian Martin said Damin Anthony Pashilk of Clearlake, was arrested Monday on 17 counts of arson and is in jail. The community -- Lower Lake -- is about 90 miles north of San Francisco.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The historic rains that inundated portions of Louisiana may have claimed a seventh victim. Officials in East Baton Rouge Parish say a volunteer in a boat spotted a body near a library in the town of Greenwell Springs, about 20 miles northeast of Baton Rouge. The manner of death remain has not been determined.

NEW YORK (AP) — Murder and other charges have been filed against a suspect in connection with Saturday's brazen shooting outside a New York mosque. New York police say evidence including a handgun, point to Oscar Morel. He had been in custody since Sunday night for hitting a bicyclist with his SUV just 10 minutes after the shooting. An imam and a friend were fatally shot as they were leaving the mosque.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania's attorney general has been stripped of her passport and warned not to retaliate against former aides who testified against her. But Kathleen Kane showed little emotion as she was convicted of leaking grand jury secrets against a political rival and lying about it under oath. Kane's lawyer plans to file an appeal.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — "The Wire" and "Treme" (treh-MAY') actor Wendell Pierce's home was destroyed by flooding in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The loss comes 11 years after Pierce's childhood home was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. The 52-year-old Louisiana native revealed the news Sunday on Twitter. He says the response to his loss reminded him of the generosity given to his parents during Katrina.
