LAS VEGAS (AP) — A fire official says one resident and a firefighter were hurt and 12 people are without a place to live after a blaze at an apartment a few blocks west of the Las Vegas Strip.
Deputy Clark County Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan said Monday the resident was treated at University Medical Center for smoke inhalation, and the firefighter's was treated for minor injuries and released.
Buchanan says firefighters summoned additional units when they arrived a little before 7:30 a.m. Monday to find smoke and flame coming from the roof of the two-story building on Valley View Boulevard near Twain Avenue.
Four apartments were badly damaged, and the cause of the fire was being investigated.
Buchanan says the American Red Cross is helping eight adults and four children who were displaced.
