WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Monument has re-opened after being closed for more than a day because of problems with its elevator.
National Park Service spokesman Mike Litterst said by telephone that the monument re-opened as scheduled Monday after closing early on Saturday night and being closed all day on Sunday.
The park service says the closure was a result of a tripped breaker that was caused by a voltage drop of incoming power to the monument.
The monument was closed for nearly a week in July because of elevator problems.
