UNDATED (AP) — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump plans a foreign policy and immigration speech in Ohio today. He's expected to say that if he's elected, the U.S. will not consider ideology in aligning itself with countries willing to fight the Islamic State group and other extremists. Vice President Joe Biden joins Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania. They'll emphasize the contention that Trump is unqualified and dangerous.

WALKER, La. (AP) — Thousands of Louisiana residents are waking up in shelters today after days of heavy rain forced rivers over their banks. Forecasters say the front has moved into Texas but the danger hasn't entirely faded. Four parishes are under a federal disaster declaration. The governor says rescuers have plucked more than 20,000 people out of the floodwaters.

MCRAE, Ga. (AP) — Officials say a suspect is now in custody in the fatal shooting of a Georgia police officer. The Telfair County Sheriff's Office says in a statement on its website today that 24-year-old Royheem Delshawn Deeds has been arrested. Authorities say Deeds killed Eastman Patrol Officer Tim Smith Saturday night as Smith answered a call about a suspicious person.

BERLIN (AP) — German authorities say one victim remains in life-threatening condition after a weekend stabbing and burning incident aboard a Swiss train. Officials say the 17-year-old girl and other passengers were attacked by a man with a knife and burning liquid. The 27-year-old suspect and a 34-year-old woman victim died of their injuries yesterday.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Officials in New Zealand today say tainted tap water has left two people hospitalized in critical condition after sickening hundreds of people in a small town on the country's North Island. Officials say 19 other people are hospitalized and schools have been forced to close. The bacterium involved is typically spread from animal feces.
