OZARK, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama woman has been charged with felony manslaughter in the death of her 9-month-old son earlier this year.
Local news outlets report Dale County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Mason Bynum says in a statement that 22-year-old Brieana Farmer of Ozark was arrested Thursday after final autopsy and toxicology results revealed her child died by toxicity.
Authorities say deputies responded to a home on Jan. 11 for a report of an unresponsive infant. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bynum says according to the toxicology report and the medical examiner, over-the-counter medication found in the infant's body led to the death. He says it was over 20 times more than the therapeutic level.
It isn't immediately clear if Farmer, who also faces drug charges, has an attorney.
