THIS IS MICHAEL DE GROOTE FROM THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT

Several Salt Lake businesses report personnel changes. Gina Rodriguez was hired by Christopherson Travel Group as an On-Site Travel Consultant for AlphaGraphics world headquarters. Irwin Union Bank has named Tameisa Powers as Cash Management Representative.

Three Spectrum+Bennion employees have earned registrations. Michael Bice passed the Registered Communications Distribution Designer exam. Kurtis Dallinga earned his Professional Engineer registration. Raymond Vernon earned his Professional Engineer registration as a mechanical engineer.

Here’s a Chamber History Fact: In 1910 the Chamber moved into its new headquarters, the Commercial Club Building on Exchange Place. It was a posh and impressive facility and became host to Presidents and Kings whenever they visited Salt Lake City. Unfortunately the building also plunged the Chamber into debt for almost 30 years. By 1914, the debt was the equivalent of over $3 million dollars in today’s dollars. It wasn’t until 1938 that Chamber got rid of the debt by selling the building and moving to new headquarters.

This Saturday, September 14th, the Salt Lake Chamber is remembering 100 years of business. We’re coming together for a Century Celebration Gala at the Grand America. Stoel Rives and Questar sponsor the event. At the Gala we will honor over 100 of the people who gave extraordinary volunteer service to the Chamber. Call the Chamber now to reserve your space at 328-5050 or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
