SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Property tax increases could be coming to some homeowners in Davis, Salt Lake and Utah counties. The Deseret News reports estimated increases based on average home values range from $2 to $364 for entities in the three counties.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Fire officials say no lions or humans are injured after hydrochloric acid leaked in a building in a Hogle Zoo animal exhibit. Officials closed a small portion of the zoo and moved some gorillas that were downwind of the building. They said the lions were outside and weren't affected.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Republican Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox says he won't support Donald Trump unless the GOP nominee dramatically changes his tone. Cox was undecided about Trump during the Republican National Convention in June, but said the nominee's rhetoric has become worse since then. The lieutenant governor is diverging from Utah Gov. Gary Herbert, who said a few days ago that he would vote for Trump.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say they've recovered the body of a 17-year-old hiker from the bottom of a 400-foot cliff in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Police said the incident was the fourth or fifth search and rescue mission this summer in the Lisa Falls area, which features big rocks and cliffs.
