Here’s a Chamber History Fact: In 1887 a Chamber of Commerce was created in Salt Lake City to help bring the Mormon and non-Mormons together on a common ground. With the slogan of “No Politics or Religion in the Chamber,” this organization had some early success in healing community divisions. That success was short-lived, however, when an economic depression hit. By 1898 this earlier Chamber of Commerce had died. A few years later, in 1902, a new organization began. That new organization still exists today as the Salt Lake Chamber.

This Saturday, September 14th, the Salt Lake Chamber is remembering 100 years of business. We’re coming together for a Century Celebration Gala at the Grand America. Questar and Stoel Rives sponsor the event. At the Gala we will honor over 100 of the people who gave extraordinary volunteer service to the Chamber. Call the Chamber now to reserve your space at 328-5050 or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
