Officials identify teenage hiker who died in Little Cottonwood Canyon

A 17-year-old died while hiking in Little Cottonwood Canyon Saturday, officials report.

James Wade was hiking with his family when he was separated from the group, according to Unified Police Lt. Manfred Lassig. He was killed after falling near Lisa Falls. Wade's body was located at the bottom of a steep cliff.

Salt Lake County man drowns while attempting to rescue child

Ismael Segundo, 34, was fishing with his girlfriend and her two children when one child went into the water and started to struggle, according to Utah State Parks Lt. Eric Stucki.

Segundo, his girlfriend and her other child swam into the reservoir to rescue the struggling child.

The girlfriend and her two children made it back to the shore but Segundo did not.

Pedestrian killed after hit-and-run in SLC

A man was hit and killed by a vehicle early Saturday morning, police said.

Police said the victim was hit near 1407 W. North Temple and the driver did not stay on scene. His body was found around 5:30 a.m.

Draper man killed in off-road vehicle rollover in Washington County

A Draper man died Saturday when the off-highway vehicle he was riding in rolled near Kolob Reservoir.
