FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Chris Pontius had a goal and an assist in the second half to help the Philadelphia Union beat the New England Revolution 4-0 on Saturday night.
Philadelphia (9-8-7) snapped a four-game winless stretch and won on the road for the first time in 10 matches. New England (6-10-8) has given up 11 goals during its three-game losing streak.
C.J. Sapong started the scoring in the second minute. Fabinho beat three defenders down the left sideline, sent a cross in front of goal and Sapong flicked it home with the outside of his foot.
Pontius scored his 10th goal of the season in the 51st minute. After two failed clearances by the Revolution, Pontius was first to a loose ball and rolled it inside the far post. Three minutes later, Pontius redirected a corner across goal and Richie Marquez headed it home.
Roland Alberg scored from distance in the 93rd minute after a give-and-go with Charlie Davies.
The Revolution's last home win in the series came on Aug. 25, 2013.
