BURNLEY, England (AP) — Burnley made an unconvincing return to the top flight Saturday with a 1-0 defeat against Swansea on the opening day of the Premier League season.
Striker Leroy Fer scored in the 82nd minute at Turf Moor after tapping in a rebound, following Jefferson Montero's strike. It was Fer's first competitive match for Swansea since his loan from Queen Park Rangers was made permanent over the summer.
Burnley, which won the second-tier League Championship last season for an immediate return to the EPL, rarely caused problems for Swansea.
