SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP) — Nathan Redmond celebrated his Southampton debut with the equalizer in a 1-1 draw at home to 10-man Watford on Saturday, as both teams started the Premier League season under new management.

Etienne Capoue fired Watford into a ninth-minute lead, volleying home after captain Troy Deeney headed the ball back from Nordin Amrabat's cross.

Walter Mazzarri's team stayed in front until the 58th minute, when Redmond volleyed past Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.

Southampton, now coached by Frenchman Claude Puel after Ronald Koeman's move to Everton, pushed forward in search of a winner and came close with a header from Steven Davis.

Watford was reduced to 10 men in the 76th minute when substitute Ben Watson was sent off for bringing down Shane Long as the forward headed for goal.
