RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — The U.S. picked up two medals in rowing today at the Olympics. In the women's eight the U.S. took home its third consecutive gold medal in the event, beating Britain and Romania on the final day of the Rio regatta. And American Genevra Stone won a silver medal in the women's single sculls.
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — The U.S. medal count now shows Team USA with 52 medals overall. Broken down, the Americans have 21 gold, 14 silver and 17 bronze. China is next with 38 overall, while Britain and Japan have 24.
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs are playing for their 12th straight win this afternoon as they entertain St. Louis. This is the third of four games this weekend between the National League Central rivals. The Cubs start the day with a whopping 14-game lead over the Cardinals in the division race.
TORONTO (AP) — The battle between the Blue Jays and Orioles for the lead in the American League East continues today. The O's start the day with a half-game lead over the Jays, who are home this afternoon to Houston. Baltimore is in San Francisco this evening to face the National League West-leading Giants.
UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio (AP) — Third-round play is taking place today in the U.S. Senior Open in Ohio. The leader at the midway mark was Joey Sindelar by a shot over Billy Mayfair. Sindelar completed two rounds at 5-under.
