BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Animal advocates are suing Montana officials over rules for grizzly bear hunts that would kick in if the U.S. government moves ahead with its proposal to lift the animals' federal protections. The plaintiffs claim Montana wildlife commissioners approved the hunt without providing public notice of the full contents of the rule. State officials expect fewer than 10 bears to be hunted most years.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Students from foreign countries continue to be attracted to the College of Southern Idaho even as international student enrollment declines at colleges across the country. The Times-News reports that CSI has consistently enrolled 61 international students despite funding cuts to government-sponsored programs that allow foreign students to study in the U.S.

PHOENIX (AP) — Native Americans can begin collecting plants growing in national parks under a new federal rule. The rule announced in June by Interior Secretary Sally Jewell went into effect Thursday. Under the rule, tribes must have a culturally significant tie to the land that makes up a national park in order for its members to harvest foliage that grows there. And Native Americans or Alaskan Natives must use the plants for traditional reasons, such as using a root for medicinal purposes.

REPUBLIC, Wash. (AP) — State wildlife officials in helicopters have shot and killed two gray wolves in northeastern Washington, and plan on removing more wolves. The Department of Fish and Wildlife said two adult female wolves, including this year's breeding female, that roam Ferry County were killed on Aug. 5.
