This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
In just a few days, we'll celebrate our pioneer heritage, and the celebration includes some pretty spectacular entertainment. One of the best is the Days of '47 Rodeo. The rodeo will be held at the Delta Center tonight July 19, tomorrow night July 20, Monday night July 22 and Tuesday night July 23 beginning at 7 p.m. On Wednesday, July 24, the rodeo will begin at 4 p.m.
The Days of '47 Rodeo was voted "Best Large Rodeo Committee" in the nation by the Women's Professional Rodeo Association. Actually, it is the second year in a row the rodeo received a national award.
As a nationally sanctioned event by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, the Days of '47 Rodeo has traditionally been one of the best in the nation. Top cowboys and cowgirls from around the world will compete for approximately $150,000 in prize money. Among them are Rob Smets, who is a five-time world champion bull fighter. Others to see are world champions Lan LaJeunesse in bareback riding and Blue Stone for bull riding. Incidentally, both of these champions are from Utah--Lan is from Morgan and Blue is from Ogden.
The Bar-T Rodeo Company, recognized for their award-winning breeding programs, will provide the rodeo stock for such standard rodeo events as bareback riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding. There will also be miniature Brahma bull riding each night. Junior bull riders ages 9 to 16 will compete for prizes.
The rodeo will also include specialty acts. Francisco Zamora, a roping artist recognized around the world, will perform every night. Bert Davis will also entertain, showing off his PRCA award-winning trained dogs and goats. Plus, the rodeo will feature other entertainment from the clowns and the Utah Jazz Bear.
Tickets to the rodeo are available at the Delta Center and several other locations. More information about the rodeo can be found by logging on to daysof47rodeo.com.
