SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) — A $70 million fundraising campaign has formally begun for construction of the new Arkansas Children's Hospital campus in northwestern Arkansas.
Officials say $53 million has already been pledged for the hospital that's being built on 37 acres of donated land in Springdale and is scheduled to open in January 2018.
The hospital will include 24 inpatient beds for children, a 24-hour pediatric emergency department, a pediatric surgery unit with five operating rooms and an outpatient clinic with 30 exam rooms.
It will also have a helipad and refueling station for a medical helicopter.
