Fine printing requires a craftsman. That statement has been true since printing had its inception long ago. Putting ink on paper, in a way that is pleasing to the eye, really is an art. One such craftsman was Don Tueller. Born in Paris, Idaho, Don decided as a young man that he would pursue printing as his profession. He became an articulate printer with an eye for detail. And in the mid-1960s, he eventually purchased his own weekly newspaper--The Shelley Pioneer--and printing company in Shelley, Idaho. Don was committed to hard work and knew that the printing industry would require a great deal of it. His children caught on to his work ethic and his business became a family affair at times. Don had two sons who would eventually come to love the printing industry as well.
The oldest, Craig, took an active part in the production of the newspaper at the early age of 14. He became an integral part of the business, especially when Don's health weakened. Craig was responsible for typesetting and other highly skilled tasks at the shop. Ted, the younger of the two brothers, took after his father and brother, and at the age of 15 also entered the printing business, working for other printers in Utah.
In 1983, Craig, who was anxious to have his own business, started what has been known since as Tueller's Ink in Bountiful. Later that same year, Ted joined Craig in the business, and a great brother-owned business had its inception. Today, Ted oversees the customer relations and pre-press operations, while Craig is responsible for the pressroom and quality control. For almost 20 years, Tueller's Ink has offered high-quality service at a fair price. Tueller's specializes in 1 and 2-color print runs of all quantities-everything from business cards to multi-part forms. The company even does some 4-color process runs. Tueller's Ink is able to take printing projects from the conception stage through typesetting, design, press and bindery-all with craftsmanlike quality.
People often marvel that two brothers can be successful in business without serious conflict. But in their aspirations and decisions for Tueller's Ink, Craig and Ted have always been on the same page.
