THIS IS LARRY MANKIN FROM THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT.

Several Salt Lake businesses report personnel changes. Christopherson Travel Group has hired Jeff Dodge as a Travel Consultant at AMI Semiconductor, Holly Wallin as a Travel Consultant at the University of Utah, and Charee Astle and Vikki Makapugay as Travel Consultants at Iomega Corporation. ClearOne Communications has named Andrew Fellows as Vice President of Services.

1,431,851 passengers went through Salt Lake City International Airport in January. This is down 7.77 percent from last year.

March 18th marked the 150th anniversary of Wells Fargo & Company. Wells Fargo is one of about a dozen Fortune 500 companies founded in or before 1852 that are still in their original business with their original name. The Chamber celebrates its 100th anniversary this year and salutes all organizations and businesses 100 years old or older.

Here’s an Olympic business fact: During the Games, downtown traffic was reduced by 30 to 40 percent. Traffic in West Valley City and Davis County both fell by 20 to 30 percent.

Tonight at the Little America Hotel is Salt Lake’s biggest event for small business: the Chamber’s Giant Step Awards. The Chamber will honor Cartwright Communications, Chung and Associates, Cameron Construction, Have Party…Will Travel, and Absolute! Restaurant and Brasserie. Tonight’s speaker is Scott Watterson, Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of ICON Health and Fitness. For more information about this event call the Chamber at 328-5055 or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
