There ís certainly an appeal to attending these Olympic Winter Games. For some, itís the competition. For others, it ís the thrill of witnessing a major world celebration. And still some of us want to go just to say we did years from now.
No matter the reason, attending the Games is certainly worthwhile. So, if you havenít been able to get tickets to an event, well, Iíve got some good news. A Utah non-profit plans to send a few lucky people to the Closing Ceremonies as part of an effort to raise money for its cause.
Itís called the Good Knightzz Foundation, and it works to provide mattress sets to children in need as well as to other charitable organizations in Utah. Though founded just last year, Good Knightzzóspelled K-N-I-G-H-T with two Zsóhas already donated hundreds of mattress sets to local charities and needy families. I spoke with the programís founder Ann Koch*. She told me she was inspired to start Good Knightzz after seeing the success of a similar organization in San Francisco. So with help from the Mattress Firm and the Sealy mattress company, Ann has now brought the idea to Utah.
Recently, Good Knightzz donated several Sealy mattresses to Salt Lakeís newest Ronald McDonald House. The non-profit hopes to provide mattresses to as many as 80 organized charities in the state. Ann said working with charities is the best way to identify people who really need the beds.
To continue its good cause, Good Knightzz has also focused on raising money. The group is currently sponsoring a drawing to win tickets to the upcoming Closing Ceremonies of the Winter Games. Anyone can enter by donating $5 to Good Knightzz at any of the Mattress Firm locations from Ogden to Orem. The deadline to enter is Monday, February 18. The stores are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., weekdays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m .on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The drawing will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at the Foothill Village Mattress Firm, and at least three winning sets of tickets will be drawn.
So, by helping Good Knightzz, thereís a good chance you could have tickets to a really great show.
